Hi. My name is James Murphy. My
friends just call me Murph. I come from the northwest of England, a town by
the name of Ellesmere Port, which lies in the Wirral Peninsular and the
Estuary of the River Mersey. My family left there in 1940 during the bombing
of Liverpool by the Germans, we arrived in what is our present home of
Nottingham where I grew up and went to school till the age of fifteen.
I then left school to go down the local colliery(coal mine) in Gedling,
a nearby village. There I worked till the age of eighteen years before
joining the forces and being sent to the Suez crisis in 1956 and also later
to the island of Cyprus where there was open conflict between the local
Turkish and Greek community.
Here in my site you will find pictures of my
interests and family and bits and pieces about things I have done or places I
have been been.
